PG-43: Music

5. Take Care of Her

(PG-43)
Imagine a father with a deep voice and an authoritative personality, glaring into the eyes of his prospective son-in-law who is trying his best to ask for the daughter's hand in marriage, and you just know that Dad is going to eat this boy alive. Well, maybe not. Maybe Dad knew this day was coming and was himself struggling to deal with the loss - not of his daughter - but of his role as first-line protector and provider. This story will ring true for many a traditional Boomer. The "music box" accompaniment of this song provides a very pleasant atmosphere for this endearing moment in a Boomer's life.
LYRICS

You've ask me for my daughter's hand but first we must talk man-to-man
I have to know that you can TAKE CARE OF HER
TAKE CARE OF HER

She tells me that you treat her good but one thing must be understood
I have to know that you would TAKE CARE OF HER
TAKE CARE OF HER

TAKE CARE OF HER when she stumbles
TAKE CARE OF HER when she falls
TAKE CARE OF HER when she fears the night
And Daddy's not there to make it right
I have to know that you'll TAKE CARE OF HER
TAKE CARE OF HER

You say you'll make your faithful vow and I believe you, yet somehow
I have to know that you shall TAKE CARE OF HER
TAKE CARE OF HER

You tell me that you'll love her 'till the end of time, but even still
I have to know that you will TAKE CARE OF HER
TAKE CARE OF HER

TAKE CARE OF HER when she's troubled
TAKE CARE OF HER when she's sad
TAKE CARE OF HER when she feels she's weak
And Daddy's not there to kiss her cheek
I have to know that you'll TAKE CARE OF HER
TAKE CARE OF HER

So I'll give you my daughter's hand cause now I think you understand
You must love her and TAKE CARE OF HER
TAKE CARE OF HER

I have to know that you'll TAKE CARE OF HER
